Eating and sleeping
They’re like partners in crime
One follows the other, most willing
So lethargically sublime.
How can one not like the two
Because the two sure like each other
And just as soon as you’ve eaten big
You feel the creeping up of slumber.
Food and sleep, sleep and food
Stomach leads, yawn follows
And inevitably when you have no time
You die for bed and pillows.
Some are lucky, they get siesta
Some others have to stay up with coffee
Not too fair, because eating demands
The indulgence of all things sleepy.
Eating and sleeping, oh you little joys
You bring meaning to our lives, so roundabout
Because you add further pleasure to gastronomy
With the joy of wanting to pass out.
